Borrell & Associates has updated its political revenue projections for the 2018 mid-term elections which are about to start kicking into gear. Borrell puts the new forecast at $8.9 billion, an increase of $400 million over its previous projection in December of 2017. So how much does Borrell expect Radio to pull in? [read more]

The IAB just announced that iHeartMedia CEO Bob Pittman and NPR CEO Jarl Mohn will keynote the final session at the IAB's Podcast Upfronts, Thursday. NPR has been successful at podcasting for a long time. iHeart carries hundreds of podcasts on the iHeartRadio app. Pittman and Mohn are long-time friends. [read more]
 
 
Gen Media Partners announced Monday that it has acquired national radio network Sun Broadcast Group. SBG founder Jason Bailey and COO Julio Aponte Jr. will retain partial ownership of Sun and continue to run the day-to-day operations. How much Gen Media Partners paid for SBG was not revealed. Edison Research will unveil some new data at The Radio Show in Orlando later this month. And that research will show that the reach of in-car AM/FM radio has remained unchanged since 2011. [read more]
 
The Tom Kent Radio Network has launched a new adult hits format called FUEL. The network says FUEL is a 24/7 personality-driven localized turnkey format that will feature the biggest Adult hits from the 90s as well as late 80s and early 2000s. [read more]
 
 
Add another week of victory on the radio for The Home Depot after the big-box chain aired a whopping 80,870 commercials on radio stations across the country, according to Media Monitors. [read more]
 
Los Angeles station KROQ-FM has announced the return of the original “Roq of the 80s.” The 1980s rock-centric radio station has launched on Radio.com and KROQ-HD2 with a Flashback 500 countdown. [read more]
 
WFLA in Orlando, which carries talk shows, news, weather and traffic, is moving its FM station frequency to 93.1 and will continue to simulcast on 540 AM. WFLA will also continue to be available on its current station 102.5 FM through October 1. [read more]
 
 
 
Radio Hall of Fame inductee Johnny Morris has died. Morris was the first black chief engineer in Southern California radio and an award-winning radio broadcaster/program director. Morris, who has been characterized as “godfather of soul radio in California." He was 70. [read more]
 
Westwood One is ready to kick off its 32nd consecutive year as the network radio partner of the NFL with the opening night game on Thursday, when the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles host the Atlanta Falcons. Boomer Esiason will join Kevin Harlan in the booth for his farewell broadcast after 18 seasons with Westwood One. [read more]
 
Some may know Bonnie-Jill Laflin as a social media personality and actress, but she’s also a radio talent. San Francisco sports station KNBR is adding Laflin to the on-air team of the Murph & Mac morning show. [read more]
 
 
WRQX-FM/Mix 107.3 in Washington D.C. has signed Corinna Delgado as on-air talent for middays. Delgado was most recently with KRBE-FM, Cumulus’ heritage Top 40 in Houston, where she started in 2014. [read more]
 
On Tuesday, September 4, WNUE-FM, 98.1 Salsa y Más will begin airing Él y Ella every weekday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET. The show will be hosted by Arnaldo Olivieri “JR al Aire” and Jessica Reyes. [read more]
 
Thirty-year broadcasting veteran Lou Bennett is the new Program Director for “Memphis’ Best Mix of R&B,” 103.5 WRBO-FM. Bennett has 20 years of Urban radio programming under his belt. [read more]
 
 
William J. Kelly,  host of the Citizen Kelly Show on Chicago's AM 1590 WCGO, will be staying on the Evanston-based network for at least one more year. "At AM 1590 WCGO, we're making Chicago radio great again," Kelly said. [read more]
