On the heels of Good Karma flipping WKTI from Country to Sports in Milwaukee, Magnum Media has decided to flip WVTY-FM (92.1) to Country. 92.1. WVTY-FM covers southern Milwaukee, while Magnum’s West Bend licensed 92.5 Buzz Country WMBZ covers the northern half. Magnum will program WMBZ and WVTY separately.
Magnum owner Dave Magnum says he appreciates Scripps and Good Karma selling him commercials, inviting soon-to-be displaced Country listeners to 92.1 and 92.5. “I tell my sons, Reid and Ty, that unless you could have Aaron Rodgers’ gig with the Green Bay Packers, there’s not a more exciting game than radio. On top of everything else, last night, of all nights, after putting a brand spanking new tube into our 92.1 transmitter for the format change, a bolt of lightning from a late-season storm blasted it. Thankfully, we’ve got an excellent back-up transmitter. Radio is a thrill ride like no other; everybody in the business talks about how it gets in your blood. Ironically, today marks the four-year anniversary of our four-station expansion into the Milwaukee market.”
