Kudos To WFMV In Columbia, SC

Thanks to WFMV-FM Station Manager Kevin Felder for sharing the details about the station’s big 25th anniversary celebration. It was a star-studded concert at Bible Way Church of Atlas Road where thousands of listeners showed up to help the station celebrate.

Signing on to the airwaves in October 1993, WFMV was the first 24-hour FM Gospel station in the country. A pillar of service in and to the community, the station has provided over $200,000 in academic scholarships to college-bound high school seniors through the Future Leader Scholarship initiative; raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; made Thanksgiving meals possible for thousands of families; and put smiles on the faces of thousands of children during the Share the Spirit of Giving Christmas campaign.

“It is hard to believe it has been 25 years,” said Mr. Alex Snipe, founder and president of Glory Communications, Inc., WFMV’s parent company. “What began as love for the radio when I was a boy working in the fields of Berkeley County, has blossomed into a tool for inspiration and encouragement.”

Award-winning and Grammy Award-nominated national recording artists Travis Greene and Todd Dulaney headlined the celebration, attended by 2,000-plus enthusiastic listeners and fans.

At WFMV’s 25th Anniversary concert, City of Columbia Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine presented Mr. Snipe with the Golden Key to the City, and a proclamation from Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin was presented declaring Sunday, October 28, 2018 as Alex Snipe Day in the City of Columbia. In addition, South Carolina Senator Darrell Jackson presented Mr. Snipe with a special Senate Proclamation. The anniversary concert also featured stirring music renditions from national recording artist Shawn Bigby, Standard out of Charlotte, NC, Bible Way Church of Atlas Road, Word of God Church & Ministries, and the CBJ Singers of Brookland Baptist Church.
