KYNR Finally Back On The Air

It took nearly a year for the AM station owned by the Yakama Nation in Central Washington to get back on the air after burglars stole all the station’s equipment. Yesterday, DJ Roy Dick popped a CD in the CD player and the station was back.

According to The Yakima Herald $20,000 worth of equipment was stolen during the break-in, including the control board, three microphones, three printers, a CD player and the station’s emergency alert system. The robbers came through a wall after kicking in the wall-mounted air-conditioner.

The FCC wanted to know if the burglary was an attempt to stifle the station’s ability to inform the public.

Dick told the paper he thought it had to do with someone wanting to start their own recording studio or to sell the equipment for drug money.

There were no reports of any arrests.
