Former Host Wants Taylor Swift Witness Tossed

The former KYGO Denver morning man accused of groping Taylor Swift at a 2013 concert meet-and-greet “had the profile of a person likely to sexually assault women,” according to University of Colorado Professor McFarland’s motion, says Lorraine Bayard de Volo. She’s a professor of women and gender issues and has never even met David Mueller. Mueller filed a slander lawsuit against Swift claiming a colleague groped her, not him, and he was fired over the allegations.

Mueller is asking a judge to prevent Bayard de Volo from testifying at the trial. According to The Denver Post, Mueller’s attorneys claim Bayard de Volo “has a doctorate in political science, has never served as an expert witness and apparently has no training in psychology.”

Here’s where it really gets interesting. Bayard de Volo’s 20-page report includes this conclusion: “Throughout David Mueller’s pleadings in this lawsuit and his deposition testimony, he indicated that even before he met Ms. Swift, he felt his job security was threatened, his identity as a radio personality was threatened, and his masculinity was threatened. This perfect storm of threats to Mr. Mueller’s perceived status is consistent with the well-settled, academically accepted, perceived threats to status that motivate a man to commit sexual harassment or assault.”

According The Post, Bayard de Volo also wrote in her report that, “Mueller’s testimony indicates his belief that unwanted sexual contact is something that men in radio can get away with. Because of his self-perceived status, he believed such an act would be “excused as a joke, a misunderstanding, part of the business, or his prerogative as a radio host who regularly met with famous women.”

Mueller’s attorney argues, if allowed, this testimony will prejudice a jury.
