Fresh off the sale of its remaining TV stations and the purchase of 8 radio stations in Charleston, Hilton Head and Beaufort, SC, Saga is getting ready to announce even more radio station buys. CEO Ed Christian says he’s been spending a lot of his time looking for stations. “We’ve been working on several opportunities and we hope to announce something shortly.” Christian said Saga will not purchase big baskets of stations. “We add stations one-by-one so we’re not left with things in the basket we do not want.” Christian said Saga got out of the TV business because the company did not have scale. “We went out and found an excellent family owned company,” to purchase the TV stations (they were sold for $66 million. The 8 radio stations were purchased for $23 million).
