Salem Q2 Broadcast Revenue Drops 1.4%

Total revenue for the company decreased 2.5% to $66.1. Broadcast revenue decreased 1.4% to $49.3 million, digital revenue decreased 1.6% to $10.9 million, and publishing revenue decreased 11.3% to $6.0 million. One of Salem’s biggest drags on revenue is KLTY in Dallas, where revenue is down 20% after years of ratings declines. The company replaced its management team in that market and CEO Ed Atsinger says things are starting to turn back around for the station. Atsinger also blamed political comps from 2016 and a challenging advertising market for radio with all the new digital products that advertisers now have to choose from. For Q3 Salem is pacing down 6-8%.
