WIP Launches A Cool Local Thanksgiving Promotion

Nothing excites a local community more than a great high school football rivalry and CBS’ WIP is taking full advantage of that. SportsRadio 94WIP is giving seven local high school matchups the chance to have their Thanksgiving Day football game broadcast live on WIP. The winner of Turkey Bowl Live will have WIP Midday hosts Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie doing play-by-play of the game with Howard Eskin as the sideline reporter.

Voting began this week and a winner will be announced on October 31. Listeners can vote for the matchup they’d like to hear by posting the hashtag #WIPTurkeyBowl on Instagram or Twitter, along with the corresponding hashtag for the game they’d like to vote for. Voting will also occur on WIP’s Facebook page. The online voting, along with the game’s historical significance, will be among the criteria used for determining the winner. Upon announcing the winner of Turkey Bowl Live, WIP will also make a donation to the schools taking part in the winning game.

94WIP midday host Joe DeCamara said, “High school football on Thanksgiving is an awesome tradition in our community. I’m very excited to start what I am certain will be a new tradition: airing a classic Thanksgiving Day rivalry game each year on WIP.”

“I lived my proudest athletic moments as a high school athlete. I’m fired up to give this game the attention it deserves,” added DeCamara’s midday show partner, Jon Ritchie.

The following seven matchups have been chosen as finalists:
Chichester vs. SunValley
Central vs. Northeast
Haddonfield vs. Haddon Heights
Gloucester Catholic vs. Gloucester City
Archbishop Ryan vs. Washington
Interboro vs. Ridley
Owen J. Roberts vs. Pottstown
