Pai Rounds Up A Few More Pirates

Keeping to his word to crack down on pirate radio stations, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s enforcement team was at it again, this time notifying four pirates in Florida and one in Queens to shut down their illegal operations. Everyone in the latest notice has 10 days to respond to the Commission about what they were doing running radio stations without a license. Here are the details.

Migui Mora was notified to put an end to his illegal operation at 91.3 in Queens, New York. FCC agents confirmed by direction finding techniques that radio signals on frequency 91.3 MHz were emanating from 35-41 97th Street in Queens. The agents heard the radio station identify itself as “La Bakana 91.3.” Later, the agents identified Mora as the operator of the station.

Garfield Smith was told by the Commission to put a halt to his illegal station on 88.7-FM emanating from a residential property on S.E. St. in Lake Worth, Florida. Pauline Ferguson also from Lake Worth was notified she was operating a pirate station at 88.7-FM from a residential property she was renting on Carver St. in Lake Worth.

NEWAVE LLC in Fort Lauderdale is caught operating a pirate station at 97.7-FM at a residential property on NW 12th Ave. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Public records show ONEWAVE LLC as the property owner.

And Rochisnel Jerome and Lydie Toussaint in North Lauderdale, Florida are nabbed operating an illegal station at 101.1-M at a residential property on SW 83rd Ave. in North Lauderdale, Florida. The Commission said public records show they own the property.
