KXXF Free FM (Beaumont, TX) has added veteran radio programmer and on-air talent Gary Lee Love to its roster. Love will work the afternoon drive shift, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. He has been on the air for 50 years and was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2016. Love will be playing country classics on the non-genre-specific station and has been told it’s his show and his music (to which he responded, “no more corporate suits telling me what to play”). The new show kicks off Monday, October 9.
Station owner John Walton said, “It’s quite a coup for 105.3 Free to acquire a partnership with the Gary Lee Love Show. Gary is a bigger-than-life personality who is a household name in Southeast Texas. A great entertainer and radio hall of fame legend. Gary is one more reason 105.3 is the fastest-growing station in Southeast Texas.”
