Clarke Broadcasting’s 8th annual Cash Drive for Interfaith Social Services raised the jackpot when combining the numerous community donations and a match by Chicken Ranch Rancheria. The on-air cash drive ran from 6a.m. until noon on Sonora’s Star 92.7 and 93.5 KKBN, with regular updates on AM 1450 and FM 102.7 KVML. All donations will go to the charity to help families in need in Tuolumne County receive food and basic needs. Some of the larger donations that helped make it a record breaking year, including $17,859 from the Sonora Area Foundation and its donors, $5,000 from Adventist Health Sonora, $2,500 from Royce Construction, and $1,500 from Maynords. Tribal Chair Lloyd Mathiesen announced that the Chicken Ranch Rancheria would match the roughly $51,000 in community donations, bringing the total over $102,000.

Asked for her reaction to the outpouring of support, Interfaith Director Cathie Peacock stated, “I can’t even answer that question, because I’m just speechless from the response, and caring, that the folks have shown Interfaith and what we do for the folks in the community. I’m impressed, I’m awed, and almost in tears. It is a wonderful thing.”
