Rush Limbaugh, who announced Monday he has advanced lung cancer, received the Medal of Freedom award at President Trump’s State-of The-Union address Tuesday night. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the nation’s highest civilian honor.

First lady Melania Trump placed the medal on the visibly surprised Limbaugh.

Trump thanked Limbaugh for his decades of tireless devotion to the country. “Here tonight is a special man, someone beloved by millions of Americans who just received a Stage 4 advanced cancer diagnosis. This is not good news, but what is good news is that he is the greatest fighter and winner that you will ever meet.”

Senator Ted Cruz takes to Twitter to congratulate Rush

Rush has been broadcasting his program for 31 years. He is 69 years old. He plans to continue his program, only taking days off when he is getting treatment for the cancer.
