That's according to the latest piece of data released from Borrell & Associates. Traditional advertising such as newspapers, direct mail, radio and yellow pages remain strong with local advertisers. Despite being plagued by fraud, bots and fake users, Social Media remains highest on the list, used by 78% of the 2,212 businesses polled by Borrell. [read more]
 
 
We'll find out on September 27 at The Radio Show in Orlando. On Monday, The National Association of Broadcasters announced the finalists. William Puig of Homestead, Florida is accused of operating an illegal radio station from a commercial property on 92.1-FM and a company called Rockaway154 is accused of operating a pirate station from a residential property on Rockaway Parkway in Brooklyn at 93.7-FM. [read more]
 
The big-box home improvement chain kept its streak alive by airing just under 57,000 commercials on radio stations across the country last week according to Media Monitors. GEICO held onto second place by running nearly 53,000 commercials. Macy's was next with 30,651, followed by Pepsi (26,993), and Walgreens (22,141) rounding out the top five. [read more]
 
 
iHeartMedia has promoted four of its Region Presidents to Division Presidents of the iHeartMedia Markets Group. Linda Byrd, Scott Hopeck, Brian Olson, and Jeff Tyler will expand their current Region President roles to include Division President responsibilities -- joining current Division Presidents Kevin LeGrett and Tom McConnell.  [read more]
 
Hubbard's WWFD (820-AM) "The Gamut" in Washington, DC has turned off its analog signal and is now all digital. The station has turned to a partnership with HD Radio to broadcast in digital (the format is a music station playing "A to Z and everything in between"). PD and station engineer Dave Kolesar says AM needs to start trending in this direction. [read more]
 
On Monday, Entercom relaunched Fresh 102.7 as NEW 102.7 FM in New York. The station (WNEW), will remain a Hot AC format. Additional announcements regarding the new programming lineup will be made shortly. [read more]

Monday was a big day for the hosts at Boston’s sports station WBZ-FM The Sports Hub. The new Beasley station, picked up from CBS as part of the Entercom/CBS merger, began broadcasting from the station’s brand new state of the art studios in Dorchester, MA. [read more]
 
Boomer Esiason has decided not to return as color analyst for Westwood One’s NFL broadcasts after 18 years in the Monday Night Football booth. “It has been an honor to be a member of the Westwood One NFL broadcast team for the last 18 years,” said Esiason. [read more]
 
 
 
The New York Post is reporting that Hall of Famer Kurt Warner is in line to replace Boomer Esiason on Westwood One. Over the last several years, Esiason and Warner have split the games on Mondays, working with play-by-player Kevin Harlan. Esiason always called the Super Bowl. Warner also works for the NFL Network. FOX Sports Radio has renewed its contract with sports personality Clay Travis. Under the multi-year agreement, Travis will continue in his current role as host of the network’s morning drive program, Outkick The Coverage with Clay Travis. The show is now heard on about 300 stations. [read more]
 
Eagan has been a staple of the Indianapolis airwaves for nearly four decades, but he’s decided to call it a day. He’ll be retiring July 20. Eagan started at Emmis Communications in 1981. [read more]
 
 
A Detroit-based morning show will be piped into Fort Myers starting this week to replace the recently canceled Bubba The Love Sponge on rocker WXRK. WRIF-FM's Dave & Chuck the Freak Morning Show will now be simulcast weekday mornings. [read more]
 
The Nebraska Broadcasters Association of Broadcasters will welcome Dent Otradovsky into its Hall of Fame on August 14 in Lincoln, during the 84th Annual NBA Convention. Otradovsky is the owner and GM of KVSH-AM in Valentine -- the only station he's worked for in his 49-year radio career. He began at KVSH in 1969 as a DJ.  [read more]
 
Listeners from Hubbard's “Real Rock Radio” KSHE-95 FM in St. Louis turned out in large numbers for one of the nation’s largest and longest running blood drives - the 34th Annual KSHE Summer Blood Drive, held July 6th and 7th. More than 2,000 donors participated in the two-day event, held in nine locations across the St. Louis metropolitan region. [read more]
